How do you know if you have an irregular heartbeat?

would you be able to know? would you doctor tell you if you had one? im 15 115 lbs. i do drink a lot of caffeine and that is probably contributing, but i still think i might have one. when we took stress tests at school, my heart rate never went back to normal. it just kept going up and down from the original that i took. sometimes my heart does this weird beat where it feels like it skips a beat then all of a sudden goes BOOM!!!!!!

so is there any way for ME to tell? or would only my doctor be able to. and should i ask him at my next physical? (which will probably be next school year)

Do not wait. This could be serious. I have an irregular heart beat due to Lyme Disease. Your heart health is essential to your wellbeing, and at your age, you should not have any heat issues. For now please stay away from the caffine. (IK that when I have any caffine at all it makes my heart go crazy and I faint...) Ask your doctor to give you an EKG. Hope this helps, and please get checked out.

U might as well go to the doctor!

How do you know if you have an irregular heartbeat?

put your hand on your neck on the left side of your adams apple and find your pulse. Look at a clock with a second hand and count the beats for 15 seconds. Then multiply it by 4 and it should be around 80, it can be 70 also, if it is very low, your blood pressure can be low. If it is rapid then your bp can be high, if you get abnormal count- yes see your DR.

a dysrhythmia can can heard or palpated. just fell your pulse and you should be able to tell if it%26#039;s steady or irregular. or, if you have access to a stethoscope listen to your heart. it seems as though if your stress test was irregular, someone would have reffered you to a cardiologist, or at least advised you to seek medical attention.
